Several days ago, I had the pleasure of meeting with Yoav Poizner and of first learning about the Poizner Winery. Yoav had brought two bottles for my tasting, one a barrel sample, but the fates were not kind and that one fell on the hard floor of the restaurant at which we were dining . Considering that a formal tasting is difficult while licking the floor (and probably getting glass shards in one's mouth), I'll have to hold on barrel tastings until I can visit his winery in November.
The winery, located in Zichro Ya'akov is currently releasing about 3,000 bottles annually. As I say, I shall be visiting this fall after the malolactic fermentation has ended, and then will taste through both this history and the barrels of the winery. In the meanwhile, should anyone wish to contact the winery that can be done by email to Poizner.winery@gmail.com
My tasting note for the wine I sampled follows.
